Your EU status does not remove Anmeldung
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens generally do not need a German residence permit simply to move under free-movement arrangements. You still need to follow the local address-registration process. The Anmeldung records where you live; it does not decide tax residence or social-security responsibility.
Use your city’s process
The federal online service requires compatible digital identity credentials and is not available for every person or move. City rules can be narrower: Berlin, for example, directs many arrivals from abroad to an in-person appointment. Check the authority for your exact address.
Keep the next steps separate
After Anmeldung, keep your confirmation and update your address for official mail. Your tax ID, health-insurance enrollment, and any social-security forms are separate steps. If you work remotely across borders, ask the relevant tax and social-security authorities before assuming your previous arrangements continue unchanged.

Do EU citizens need a residence permit in Germany?
